Distinguished Alumni Applications Being Accepted for Saint Viator High School

Saint Viator High School is accepting nominations for their 2013 Distinguished Alumni Awards. The recognition is designed to honor outstanding achievement among the Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary alumni communities. The award was first introduced in 2012 as Jim Fruchterman (SVHS '76) and Dr. Mildred Olivier (SHM '78) were the inaugural recipients.

Nominees should have established a record of extraordinary achievement in business, government, military service, arts, engineering, medicine/health, media, science, social service, athletics, technology, or education, as well as adhering to the principals and standards of the Saint Viator community. Applications can be found online at www.saintviator.com under the Alumni tab, or at the front desk of the school located at 1213 East Oakton Street in Arlington Heights. The deadline for nominations is February 28th.

“We had great success with our first year of recognizing distinguished alumni and we look forward to building on that in 2013,” said Jim Murphy, Director of Alumni Relations for the Arlington Heights school. Nominations are evaluated by a committee of faculty, administrators, alumni, and civic leaders. “We had some incredible candidates from which to choose last year, and with the more than fifty year history of our schools, we anticipate more outstanding nominations this year.” Murphy noted that names placed in nomination last year will be evaluated again this year along with any new applications received. “These are individuals who have achieved extraordinary things and who can serve as a vibrant example to current and future students about always pursuing excellence in their careers and personal lives.”

Once selections are made, the recipients will be notified and honored as part of a school celebration in October.
