Libertyville picks up first win
Libertyville's girls basketball team netted its first win of the season and first for first-year coach Greg Pedersen on Saturday.
Dana Kym scored 12 points and Haley Hoesksel added 10, as the Wildcats defeated Westinghouse 46-34 in the final-day action of the Buffalo Grove tournament.
Libertyville improved to 1-5.
"Our kids worked hard for this win," Pedersen said. "This was a tough tournament, but we'll be better for having been here later when it really counts."
Libertyville limited Westinghouse to 1 field goal in the second quarter to take a 15-8 lead into halftime. The Wildcats received 6 points apiece from Olivia Mayer, Melissa Neutz and Becky Deichl.
Fenwick 90, Antioch 48: The Sequoits saw their three-game winning streak snapped, as they fell behind 30-6 after one quarter and trailed 56-21 at halftime.
Antioch (4-2) was led by Paige Gallimore's 8 points. Megan Borries, who had a career-high 29 points and career-high seven 3-pointers in Friday's win over Taft, was held to 5 points and one 3.
Barrington 38, Grayslake Central 27: At Buffalo Grove, the Rams dropped their tournament finale, despite Maddy Miller's 10 points.
Lauren Spalding (two 3-pointers) and Morgan Dahlstrom scored 8 points apiece for Grayslake Central (3-2, 3-2).
