Oakton presents three seminars on Jewish topics

Oakton Community College will present the first of three free fall events that explore varying aspects of Jewish history, culture, and thought on Thursday, Sept. 13. Ellen Levee, who has a doctorate in Jewish studies from the Spertus Institute, will speak on “Reason versus Revelation: A Jewish Alternative.” Attendees will learn more about the central role reason plays in the Jewish tradition and explore the ways in which reason and revelation may not be mutually exclusive. The seminar will run from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in room P103 of Oakton’s Skokie campus, 7701 North Lincoln Ave. Two other seminars, also scheduled for the same time at the Skokie campus, are: Imagined and Guilty Identities: Remembering the Kindertransport, Thursday, Oct. 11, room A145-52; and The Jewish Jesus, Friday, Nov. 16, room P103.
