Schaumburg parks to celebrate National Night Out Aug. 7

It would be a crime not to bring your whole family to National Night Out!

Join the Schaumburg Park District in celebrating National Night Out from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way.

This free end-of-summer event is jam-packed with activities the whole family can enjoy together. Designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit and generate support for local anti-crime programs, National Night Out is as informational as it is entertaining.

“This is the perfect way to promote crime prevention and have a blast,” said Gwen Strombeck, Meineke Recreation Center manager. “National Night Out is a wonderful night for everyone to engage in activities and get free goodies.”

From 6:30-7:30 p.m., activities will include live music from a D.J., silly games for children, contests and sidewalk chalk play. Families also can visit with Schaumburg Police Department officers, state representatives and the fire department. Open swim in Meineke Pool is available from 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Preregistration is not required. Barbecued concessions and drinks will be sold for a minimal cost.
