Volkening Farm presents Mowing and Mooing

Learn about the life cycle of a milkshake at Heritage Farm.

Mowing and Mooing, sponsored by Whole Foods Market in Schaumburg, will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at Volkening Heritage Farm at Spring Valley, 201 S. Plum Grove Road.

Visitors to this unique event at Schaumburg Park District’s 1880s living history farm can watch draft horses mow hayfields, help with the harvest, churn butter, make farmer’s cheese, milk the cow, enjoy crafts and games, learn about making dairy products from scratch and cool off with homemade ice cream.

Grilled food and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Admission is $2 per person or $8 per family of six or fewer. Additional members are $2 each, free for kids ages 3 and younger.

Parking is available at the Vera Meineke Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road. A free wagon shuttle is available to transports visitors to the farm.
