Schaumburg streak ended by York

Schaumburg and York rolled into their Saturday afternoon boys basketball matchup in the inaugural Glenbard East Shootout in Lombard.
But it was York (13-7) that rolled out with an eight-game winning streak as it survived a second-half rally for a 53-40 victory.
Schaumburg (14-5) rallied to cut an 18-point deficit to five but saw a five-game winning streak end as it lost for only the second time in its last 10 games.
"I'm proud of our effort," said Schaumburg coach Matt Walsh. "Our guys didn't quit and they never do. We just dug too big of a hole."
The Saxons fell behind 27-14 at halftime without leading scorer Christian Spandiary (15.3 ppg). Walsh said Spandiary has an injured shoulder and is optimistic but uncertain of when he'll return.
Kyle Bolger scored 16 points and Mike Mallett added 10 for the Saxons. David Cohn led York with 21 points and hit 3 of its eight 3-pointers.
Proviso East 70, Leyden 49: A game-high 22 points from Leyden (10-7, 3-4) senior Alex Herrera wasn't enough to stop Proviso East (16-0, 6-0) from rolling to the West Suburban Gold win in Franklin Park.
Sterling Brown (17 points) and Keith Carter (14 points) led the Pirates. Herrera went 10-for-12 at the free-throw line after coming into the game with a school-record of making 34 in a row.
Collins 42, Maine West 40: Maine West (8-9) suffered its second 2-point loss of the weekend in the nonconference game in Des Plaines.
