W. Dundee church to give 115 dinners to needy

With this tough economy, it’s nice to know St. James Episcopal Church in West Dundee has your back.

On Saturday, Dec. 17, church volunteers will give 115 Christmas dinners to local, needy families. Each dinner feeds six people and this marks the fourth year the church has raised enough money to get this program together.

This year, the church is handing out the dinners to clients from Kane County Area Head Start, the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Interfaith Pantry and FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville.

For more information about the program, contact the church office at (847) 426-5612 or send an email to stjames324@sbcglobal.net.

Red Lobster revamped: The Red Lobster in West Dundee has undergone renovations and recently debuted its new look, which includes a red building with white trim, ship lanterns and Adirondack-style chairs outside. #147;The main redesign of the remodel is to resemble a seaside village like in Bar Harbor, Maine, and so many of the exterior designs and interior designs are representative of that type of design,#148; said Doug Delaney, general manager of the eatery#146;s West Dundee location. The remodel didn#146;t stop there. The eatery also added new menu items to compliment the eatery#146;s new focus on its wood fire grill. For example, Red Lobster is now offering a steak and seafood combo and both items will be cooked on the grill, Delaney said. The West Dundee outpost is one of 13 suburban Red Lobster to go through the upgrade. Other locations include Geneva, Aurora, Gurnee, Bloomingdale and Downers Grove. The West Dundee Red Lobster is at 701 Spring Hill Ring Road. Ÿ Lenore Adkins covers Carpentersville, Huntley, the Dundees, Hampshire and Sleepy Hollow.
