Schaumburg Park District holds Halloween decorating contest

The Schaumburg Park District is inviting residents to have fun as either a competitor or judge in its annual Halloween House Decorating Contest this month.

You just can’t be both.

Only the first 10 houses to enter the contest by 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, will be judged during a tour on Monday, Oct. 24.

Entry forms are available at parkfun.com or in the park district’s fall program guide, and must be returned to the Community Recreation Center at 505 N. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg.

Eligible houses must be within the park district’s borders and decorated before the tour. The houses will be judged on their originality, arrangement, theme and overall design.

Preregistration for those interested in going on the tour also is required by 9 p.m. Oct. 20. The event is for all ages and costs $5 per resident and $7 per nonresident.

Contest participants may join the tour but can’t take part in the judging.

The tour bus will leave the Community Recreation Center at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 and return at 8:30 p.m.

The winning entrants will be listed on the Schaumburg Park District’s cable channel and website.

For more information about either the contest or tour, call (847) 490-7020 or visit parkfun.com.
