College of DuPage Receives 18th Consecutive National Award for Financial Reporting

For the 18th consecutive year, College of DuPage has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for FY 2010 from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. In addition, the College also received the Distinguished Budget Award for the 13th consecutive year.

“It is a real achievement to earn just one of these awards,” said Stephen Gauthier, GOFA director, Technical Services, who spoke at the June 23 Board of Trustees meeting. “For College of DuPage to receive both awards, and for so many consecutive years, is truly a testament to the high quality of their reporting and overall financial transparency.”

In the past two years, College of DuPage has worked to save its taxpayers $2.8 million in interest payments through the refinancing of bond debt.

“We will continue to seek opportunities to serve District 502 taxpayers as good stewards of their dollars,” said Tom Glaser, Senior Vice President, Administration & Treasurer. “These awards from GFOA offer concrete evidence that we take this responsibility very seriously.”

GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 18,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C. For more information, visit www.gfoa.org.
