Township pantry benefits from carriers’ drive

The annual letter carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive held on Saturday, May 14, was once again a huge success! The Schaumburg Township Food Pantry received more than 9,750 pounds of groceries.

We would like to thank the communities of Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates for their generous donations left at their mailboxes to be picked up by the postal workers. Your contribution will ensure that residents in need of food within Schaumburg Township will receive help.

We are grateful to the Schaumburg postal service carriers who delivered the donations to the township and volunteers from the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association of Schaumburg who assisted in boxing and sorting the groceries. With their overwhelming support we were able to formulate this event to run efficiently and successfully.

The Township of Schaumburg food pantry serves, on average, more than 400 households a month.

With this usage the shelves empty quickly of canned meats, canned tomato products, pasta, canned fruit, peanut butter and jelly, juice, as well as paper products such as toilet paper, paper towels, and personal hygiene items that are also in demand throughout the year.

Please keep the pantry in mind as you do your family shopping. Office hours are 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
