Solstice Hop, Vine Fest in Schaumburg

You can celebrate the summer solstice next month while contributing to a worthy cause by attending an enjoyable evening of nature and spirits in Schaumburg.

The Schaumburg Park Foundation’s Solstice Hop and Vine Fest will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. June 18 at the center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. The event will benefit the foundation’s campaign to renovate the nature museum at Spring Valley Nature Center.

The fest will feature smooth jazz by “Together Again,” nature walks among the summer fireflies and food provided by Riccardo’s, Whole Foods Market Schaumburg, “Hey, Cupcake!” and Cabot Cheese.

Wineries and breweries will offer tastings and sell bottles of sampled wines. Nonalcoholic beverages and snacks also will be available for purchase. All guests will receive a commemorative wineglass.

Participating wineries and breweries include Lynfred Winery, Acquaviva Winery, Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant, The Lucky Monk, Fox Valley Winery Inc., Ram Restaurant and Brewery, Red Bar Winery and Bistro, Village Vintner Winery, Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery, and WineStyles.

Admission is $15 in advance or $20 at the door and includes 10 wine tastings. Additional tasting tickets will be available for purchase at the event.

Tickets are available for sale at Spring Valley, the Jerry Handlon Administration Building at 235 E. Beech Drive in Schaumburg, online at parkfun.com or by calling (847) 985-2100.

Advance ticket sales will end at 5 p.m. June 17. Guests must be at least 21 years old and a valid ID will be required.

Additional parking will be available at Olympic Park, 1675 E. Old Schaumburg Road, with shuttle service to the fest.
