Dist. 54 board approves summer projects

Twenty-four schools in Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 will get interior work done this summer, the district’s board voted Thursday.

Schools are approved for different types of repairs including cabinetry and casework replacement in some classrooms and offices; room signage; replacement of pocket tables in four gymnasiums; marker board replacement in certain classrooms; interior and exterior door and hardware replacement and miscellaneous carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. The total cost of repairs will be approximately $1,638,000.

Library media centers at Collins and Fairview schools will also be renovated this summer at a cost of $74,504.05 under a separate contract.
