Matteson man pleads guilty to disorderly conduct

A Cook County judge sentenced a Matteson man to 30 days time served in Cook County Jail after he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct following an incident that began outside Oakton Community College on Jan. 12.

The judge also ordered defendant Daniel James Robinson to pay $290 in fines.

Police said Robinson, 35, approached a 20-year-old man at about 7 p.m. that evening claiming his car had been towed and asking the man to call a toll free number for him.

The man told Robinson he needed to charge his phone in his car, police said. Robinson followed the man, got in and then asked for $500 to get his car out of impound, police said.

The man refused and Robinson began shouting, prompting the man to drive to Des Plaines in search of a bank, police said. When the man told Robinson he was driving to the police station instead, Robinson reportedly exited the car and was picked up by police a short time later.

According to authorities Robinson has numerous convictions for larceny, drugs, burglary, assault, forgery and other crimes.
