Parks renamed in Schaumburg

Odlum parks will get new names to address concerns that police won't be able to get to the correct park in an emergency.

The Schaumburg Park District board approved the new names Thursday with the notion that many residents don't know there is more than one Odlum park. Officials said the action is preventive and not in response to a previous emergency.

Four Schaumburg parks will be renamed:

Ÿ Odlum Park Northeast, at 321 N. Knollwood Drive, will be named Knollwood Park.

Ÿ Odlum Park Southeast, at 2410 W. Weathersfield Way, will be renamed Pembrook Park.

Ÿ Odlum Park Southwest, at 2661 W. Belle Lane, will be named Belle Park.

Ÿ And Odlum Park Northwest, at 2861 W. Odlum Drive, will be renamed Linden Park.

Officials initially considered leaving the Odlum name on Odlum Park Northwest, but they decided to rename all four parks to eliminate confusion.
