Bond delivers for Lake County

I recently saw one of Suzi Schmidt's mailers that says state Sen. Michael Bond was trying to distort her record. The piece goes on to accuse Sen. Bond of voting to give himself a pay raise.

Talk about negative campaign, this piece is so far from the truth that it's laughable. The fact of the matter is that Sen. Bond wasn't even in the Senate when the bill that Schmidt accuses him of supporting was passed. That's just plain dirty politics.

Then Schmidt proceeds to accuse Bond of voting for “nearly one hundred million dollars in pork barrel spending.” Schmidt tries to link the senator to Blagojevich, but it just doesn't fly. Sen. Michael Bond has been a fiscally conservative independent voice and not part of the problem in Springfield.

I have lived in Lake County since 1978 and have paid property taxes for the past 32 years, I have never, I mean never received a decent return from Springfield for my tax dollar until Bond was elected.

Today, the sad reality in Lake County is that seniors are losing their property or being forced to sell and move into subsidized public housing because they can't afford to pay their property taxes.

We need to elect a fair-minded independent professional to represent us in the 31st Senate District. Over the past four years, Bond has worked tirelessly to bring our share of tax money back to Lake County in the form of road improvements and other projects that we have been waiting 20 years for.

Bond is a smart hardworking numbers guy that will help pull northern Lake County out of this recession. Let's move Lake County forward, not back to the same old ways of pay, pay, pay, for the benefit of the few well connected.
