Walker is Krause's true successor

For years, I supported Carolyn Krause as a moderate, independent voice for our community. When she retired, I was concerned that we would lose the independent and thoughtful voice. Luckily, new state Rep. Mark Walker has carried on her legacy and proven himself to be a moderate and independent leader.

In Mark's first year, he voted against Mike Madigan more times than the House Republican leader, and he took on leaders of both parties to force Todd Stroger to lower his sales tax. His new ideas for creating jobs, and his commitment to helping Illinois businesses succeed has earned him the endorsement of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.

Mark's opponent, David Harris is the same career politician who Carolyn Krause beat in a primary almost 20 years ago because Republicans felt he was too extreme, and because he was not the active, accessible legislator we deserve. He also made decisions which were detrimental to area families, like voting against equal pay for women and raising income and sales taxes. After serving a decade in office, it was clear that David Harris was too extreme and too fiscally irresponsible to represent our community back then. We can't send David Harris back to Springfield now.

This community needs an independent voice like Mark Walker, not a radical blast from the past like David Harris. We fired Harris once we shouldn't hire him again.
