Another reason to eliminate townships

Addison Township recently hired an employee who is alleged to have embezzled from her former tax paid job. Her brother is a career politician (DuPage County Board and surprise on the Addison Township Republican Organization).

The Addison Township supervisor admits she did not check references. This is just another example of politicians taking care of their friends and family first. Earlier this week you had a letter from the ex-director of something call the Township Officials of Illinois who tried to justify the continued existence of townships. I don't doubt that without townships he would not have a job, but I an sure that didn't play into his justifications, which by the way he never really stated.

Townships duplicate many of the functions of other agencies. One of the jobs of the new employee was to process passports. Why is this a township function when any U.S. Post office will take applications. Any politician with the guts to propose a bill that would eliminate township government at the request of the taxpayer gets my vote.
