McHenry County Board District 2: Koehler, Kurtz
District 2 continues its luck of having more qualified candidates than seats, and the three candidates for two seats have similar stances on the issues, so the question is who will serve their constituents and the county better.
The lone incumbent is Republican Ken Koehler, county board chairman since 2004.
Republican Donna Kurtz would add another fiscally conservative voice to the board.
Youth mentor and Democrat Mark Booras would bring a fresh, frank voice, but, as appealing as that might be, the reasons to vote for Kurtz and Koehler are stronger.
Koehler, who is an accountant, is a proven leader who has served the county well. Kurtz is impressive on every level. and her work experience as a financial adviser ensures her ideas will be financially sound.
