Walker stands apart from party bosses

In the race for state representative for the 66th District, why should I vote for David Harris?

I received a fancy 9x12 envelope in the mail with an appeal for a campaign donation. The five-page request touted Harris's experience as deputy director and chief of staff for the Iraq Reconstruction Management Office.

The reconstruction of Iraq was one of the biggest fiascos of the Bush years. Billions of our tax dollars are still unaccounted for and the infrastructure of Iraq is only now returning to prewar condition.

Still, I don't need to look farther than the paper this promo is printed on to know that I don't want David Harris in Springfield. He used five, single-sided sheets when he could have sent his appeal on three pages in a business size envelope. Students learn that in Business/Marketing 101.

His record is one of overseeing the waste of our tax dollars in Iraq and the waste of resources in his own campaign. I don't want another government bureaucrat in Springfield!

I will support Mark Walker. He's an independent-minded leader who's not afraid to push back against party bosses. Walker is a leader in the effort to reform the budget process in Illinois.

That's why Mark Walker was given the “Best Voting Record Award" by the Independent Voters of Illinois and has earned your vote as well!
