The overriding goal was to have a permanent, visual reminder she could hand down to her daughters and granddaughters.

The second game begins at 10:30 a.m. with Dundee Middle playing Immanuel Lutheran. In the seventh-grade division, Algonquin Middle plays Carpentersville at 9 a.m. while Dundee Middle plays St. Catherine at 10:30 a.m.

    Friends of the parents of Gabrielle Horvath, a 5-year-old girl killed in a crash near Gilberts, have set up an online fundraiser to help the Hampshire family. Gabrielle's father remained hospitalized in stable condition Saturday. “It’s just such a tragedy,” said family friend Dan Nosal.

  • 5-year-old girl killed, teen cited in Rt. 72 crash near Gilberts Feb 20, 2015 9:45 PM
    A 5-year-old girl from Hampshire was killed after a multivehicle crash Friday afternoon that closed part of Route 72 near Gilberts, authorities said. Three other people were taken to a hospital after the crash at 3:15 p.m. — the 17-year-old; 45-year-old James Horvath of Hampshire, who was in the Toyota with the girl, Gabrielle Horvath; and David Doyle, 39, from Byron.
