Upcoming Hey Nonny Show Honors Late Chicago Musician

This November, Arlington Heights music venue Hey Nonny is hosting a star-studded tribute to the late Chicago musician Fred Glickstein. Glickstein was the founder, lead guitarist, and lead vocalist of The Flock, one of the most musically adventurous bands of the 60s and 70s. The show will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19.

"The Flock was one of America's most iconic art rock bands and pioneered the jazz-rock fusion genre," said Hey Nonny co-owner Chip Brooks. "Glickstein was a true visionary, creating a unique sound that served as the foundation for Fusion music."

The Flock released their debut album on CBS Records in 1969. Though their songs played primarily on FM underground rock stations in the U.S., the band was immensely popular in Europe. They became one of the most requested artists on freeform FM radio stations and sold out arenas in Berlin, Stockholm and Amsterdam.

To honor the legacy of Glickstein and his Chicago roots, Hey Nonny is bringing together many of Glickstein's former collaborators and peers to play a tribute concert. The lineup includes Jerry Smith (The Flock), Mike Flynn (The Mauds), Quent Lang (The Mauds), Howard Levy (Bela Fleck & The Flecktones), Jamo Van de Bogert (The Allman Brothers), Don Laferty (Tabasco Sound Kitchen), Mitch Goldman, Scott May (Ides of March), Joe Gagliardo (One of the Boyzz), The Cave Dwellers and many more.

"We're beyond excited to have so many big names coming together to celebrate the life and music of Fred Glickstein," said Brooks. "Throughout the night, listeners will not only hear incredible jazz-rock fusion sounds, but they'll get to relive special memories and hear stories about a Chicago music icon."

All net proceeds from the show will be donated to the Glickstein family.
