Save the date for upcoming events in Vernon Township
Vernon Township has several upcoming events for residents to provide recreation, important information about property tax freezes, a community garage sale and more.
• Join the Township from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 9, for an Ice Cream Social at the Jacob Grossman Aquatic Center, 16652 N. Buffalo Grove Road, in Buffalo Grove. The event will include a live band, free lawn games, premium ice cream to purchase at the concession stand and discounted entrance to the pool.
The township will also be holding a raffle for one Four Person Family 2023 Season Pool Pass - participants do not need to be present to win. Proceeds from the raffle will help fund future free community events within Vernon Township.
• Summer camp registration is now open for children ages 4-7. Camp takes place Monday, June 12, through Friday, July 28, at William E. Peterson Park, 16652 N. Buffalo Grove Road, in Vernon Hills.
Children will have a fun and educational experience with activities including arts and crafts, sports, swimming, singalongs and more. To learn more about the township summer camp or to register, visit vernontownship.com/161/Summer-Camp.
• A Town Hall Meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 22. Join Curtis Perlman, Vernon Township assessor, and Jonathan Altenberg, Vernon Township supervisor, at the township offices, 2900 N. Main St., in Buffalo Grove, to learn more about the differences between the Senior Exemption and the Senior Freeze for your property taxes.
• Vernon Township's 14th annual Community Garage Sale will be held in the west parking lot of Prairie View Train Station, 23034 N. Main St., Buffalo Grove, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 24.
If you would like to be a vendor at this event, the township has spaces available, in addition to two spaces (16-by-17-foot) for $25 each, with proceeds benefiting the Vernon Township Food Pantry.

• Unplug Illinois Day is Saturday, July 15, and residents are invited to take a break from your electronics and get outside to the Jacob Grossman Memorial Pool. Enjoy the day with friends and family and take advantage of "buy-one, get-one free" daily admission.
