World Mission Society Church of God hosts Naperville blood drive, saving 210 lives

The World Mission Society Church of God and Versiti Blood Center of Illinois teamed up to host the 1174th Worldwide Blood Drive on May 1.

The blood drive took place from noon to 6 p.m. at the Church of God, 2920 79th St. in Naperville. This event, inspired by the love of Christ through the Passover, sought to bring the community together to save lives by donating blood and raising awareness of the importance of blood donation.

The blood drive saw 78 people register, resulting in 70 units of blood being donated, which has the potential to save up to 210 lives. The Worldwide Blood Drive was a significant milestone in the church's mission and aimed to promote the spirit of love and compassion exemplified by the Passover. By partnering with Versiti Blood Center, the event addressed the constant demand for blood in hospitals and emergency situations, highlighting the transformative impact of giving.

Aurora 10th Ward Alderwoman Shweta Baid attended the event, lending her support and encouraging the community to participate in the blood drive.

"Congratulations, World Mission of Society Church of God for such a great event! On behalf of Mayor Richard Irwin and the City of Aurora, all the city council members, I want to welcome you all to visit the City of Aurora as well. I learned so much about the missions that the church carries out around the world, and it's very impressive and it's a thing that everybody needs to learn," said Alderwoman Baid.

In addition to blood donation, the event featured educational materials about the benefits of blood donation, as well as refreshments for donors and attendees.

"We were honored to partner with Versiti Blood Centers for the 1174th Worldwide Blood Drive," said Adam Bodrick, Deacon at the World Mission Society Church of God. "By working together, we hoped to inspire our community to join us in following Christ's example of love and compassion, giving life through the love of the Passover."

The World Mission Society Church of God and Versiti Blood Center invited community members to participate in this life-saving event and help make a difference in the lives of those in need. The successful blood drive demonstrated the power of community engagement and the positive impact that blood donation can have on countless lives.
