'Disney's Freaky Friday' comes to WeGo Drama stage

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School continues its 2022-23 season with "Disney's Freaky Friday," a new musical adaptation.

Based on the novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, this musical comedy is a sure crowd-pleaser.

On the day of her wedding, Katherine Blake magically "switches" bodies with her teenage daughter. Hijinks follow as they have to cover not being themselves.

After spending time in each other's shoes, mother and daughter learn a great deal about each other.

It is the perfect culmination of the Wego Drama season theme of "Discover Who You Are."

Junior Sentia Irakoze, who plays the daughter, states, "The body switch story is so fun to play; it allows me to be multiple characters."

Additionally, Elizabeth Hurley continues, "It is full of such joy. At its heart is a family. It is a great story that everyone really should see."

Junior Alex Bradley states, "This show is actually deep, too. The lyrics keep making me think so much about life and the world we live in today."

And Mariah Varnado adds, "I love singing these songs and dancing up a storm. It really is a great one to bring the whole family to!"
