Enormous Selection Awaits Shoppers at April Mt. Prospect Public Library Weekend Book Sale

Mt. Prospect, IL (April 10, 2023) – The thousands of books, DVDs, games, puzzles, CDs and more of all subjects, and artists, that poured into the library from generous donors the past few months now await shoppers looking for an amazing find at the Mt. Prospect Friends of the Library Book Sale this Saturday, April 15, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 16, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Mt. Prospect Public Library is at 10 S. Emerson Street, Mt. Prospect.

“This is a perfect time to stock up on terrific books at bargain prices during the Friends of the Library's used book sale. And it's a lot of fun,” Friends of the Library President Pat Klawitter said. “Funds raised through the sale help us support additional library programs, events, and services, all beneficial to the community. So, while you take your time and shop three large areas looking for special finds and something that catches your eye, you are also helping the library, the community and your neighbors.”

Klawitter said an army of volunteers have gone through the huge amount of donations received the past few months to clean and price them for customers.

“This could be our largest sale ever based on the volume of stock we have,” Klawitter, a volunteer since 2002, said. “The volunteers are the best. Made up of neighbors, students and friends, they are dedicated to helping the library and the community. All volunteers are deeply knowledgeable and look forward to helping people find what they are looking for. Not only is there a wide variety of stock, but the prices are great.”

The sale will be held in three areas – 1) in a large room on the first floor of the library, 2) part of the lower level garage and, 3) the ‘Friends' room on the library's garage level near the elevator and stairway.

In the main sale room on the first floor, shoppers will find hundreds of books including a massive children's section. The books and multimedia are separately priced while DVDs are $1 each and a large number of CD's will sell for 50 and 25 cents. One can find any kind of book, many unique and hard to find including -business, military, sport, gardening, history, movies/TV, cooking, graphic novels, art, murder mysteries, train histories, travel books, children's classics and games. Collectible books will be available in the ‘spotlight' area.

Thousands of paperbacks and other items will be available for 25 cents in the library's downstairs garage area. “You can find some real deals and great finds in the 25-cent sale area,” one volunteer said.

Another vast selection of hard and soft cover books will be available in the ‘Friends' room downstairs at the garage level. All hardcovers are $1 and soft cover books are 50 cents.

One volunteer said, “You never know what treasure you'll find at the book sale” while holding a one-of-a-kind book from the Chinese Imperial Museum on priceless ceramics, a book on the U.S. Federal Reserve System, which was formed in 1923, and a huge book on Frozen and how the movie was made.
