Arlington Heights Community Concert Band 'Showstoppers-Music of the Stage'

The Arlington Heights Community Concert Band

Presents

SHOWSTOPPERS-MUSIC OF THE STAGE

Suzanne Petrie

The Arlington Heights Community Concert Band will perform music from memorable Broadway musical showstoppers like Guys and Dolls, Rocky on Broadway, and Selections from Les Misérables and many more. The band will also play classical showstoppers like Giuseppe Verdi's March from Aida and The Ride of the Valkyries from Richard Wagner's Music Drama "Die Walkure". Under the direction of Conductor and Artistic Director, Pietro Pisello, the concert will take place on Sunday, April 23 at 3 p.m. in the Forest View Educational Center Theater located at 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights. The theater doors will open at 2:30.

This concert will feature a special performance from the band's own flute choir. A flute choir is a group of flutists playing together much like a vocal choir. This choir uses a piccolo, alto flute, bass flute plus lower pitched instruments like the bassoon. The choir will play excerpts from The Sound of Music. This flute arrangement has a unique sound because of the addition of the bassoon to the traditional flute choir.

Admission is free, but the band does accept donations to offset the cost of music and production. AHCCB, INC, is an Illinois not-for-profit corporation, is approved by the Internal exempt organization, and all donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. AHCCB Number (EIN) is 80-0528236. We do ask that you reserve tickets to help us anticipate audience attendance. To reserve tickets, please email ahccbtickets@gmail.com or visit bit.ly/3Ui9gPA no later than 10pm Friday, April 21st. Remaining tickets, if any, will be available at the door.

The Arlington Heights Community Concert Band is our community's treasure trove of musical exceptionality unique to our area. This dedicated ensemble of musicians has been culturally enriching our community for more than 40 years. Most members are not professional musicians and come to rehearsals after their regular work hours to prepare for the next performance. They play for the love of music and for the pleasure of performing beautiful music for their community.

The band is in partnership with District 214 Community Education, receives support from both the Arlington Heights Park District and the Village of Arlington Heights. The mission of the Arlington Heights Community Concert Band is to provide musical entertainment to the community, to provide opportunities for community members to join and be part of a musical organization, to provide for individual musical expression and growth, and to contribute to the community's music appreciation. Rehearsal is held every Wednesday, 7:00 PM at Forest View Educational Center.
