Rock supergroup Dinosaur Exhibit returns to Hey Nonny

The dinosaurs are back! The rock supergroup Dinosaur Exhibit returns to Hey Nonny to perform a set of shows at 7:30 p.m. March 24 and 25. The band is led by Arlington Heights resident Jerry Smith and includes members from several Chicago-based rock bands, including The Flock, Aura and The Mauds.

"We always love when Dinosaur Exhibit rocks out at Hey Nonny," said Hey Nonny co-owner Chip Brooks. "This group is made up of incredibly talented musicians, and watching them perform together onstage is such an awesome experience for prog rock fans. It's like seeing all your favorite bands in one night."

Dinosaur Exhibit - so named due to the ages of band members - is comprised of refugees from three bands that gained national prominence in the late '60s and early' 70s: The Flock, The Mauds and Aura. The Flock is best known for their hit "Clown," while The Mauds scored with "Hold On," "Knock on Wood," and "Soul Drippin'."

All three bands signed with Mercury Records and toured the world in their heyday.

In addition to Jerry Smith, Dinosaur Exhibit includes members Quentin Lang, Mike Flynn, Jerry Goodman, Mitch "The Lip," Don Lafferty and former Allman Brothers drummer Jamo van de Bogert.

The upcoming Hey Nonny shows will also feature the world's greatest harmonica player and musical genius, Howard Levy, a founding member of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and a world-renowned musical polymathic.

"These guys were integral to the birth of American progressive rock music and have influenced generations of musicians," said Brooks. "Then add Howard Levy to the mix and you've got a lineup you don't want to miss."

Limited tickets are still available for both Dinosaur Exhibit shows at www.heynonny.com.

Hey Nonny is a bistro and music venue is at 10 S. Vail Ave. in Arlington Heights. The music venue hosts live music six days a week featuring the best Chicago and touring acts playing jazz, blues, country, folk, and rock.
