Hanover Township Mental Health Board awards funding at February 28 Meeting

The Hanover Township Mental Health Board awarded $15,450 in funding to four agencies during its Feb. 28 meeting.

Community Alternatives Unlimited was awarded $10,000 in Capital Funding for ADA technology upgrades. Headquartered in Chicago, the agency provides services for township residents who are coping with both the short and long-term effects of any disabling condition and supporting vulnerable families to improve health and wellness during pregnancy and birth.

Family Service Association of Greater Elgin was awarded $3,000 in Staff Development Funding for clinicians to receive Family Systems training. With offices in Elgin and St. Charles, the agency last year served 90 township residents.

The board awarded Clearbrook with $2,200 in Staff Development Funding for clinicians to participate in advanced therapy training. The agency empowers adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live their fullest lives possible.

The Kenneth Young Center also received $250 in Staff Development Funding for training for the agency's Mobile Crisis Team. The Mobile Crisis Team provides emergency assistance to people of all ages during and after a psychiatric crisis. The Mobile Crisis Team works in conjunction with the new 988 crisis hotline.

The next meeting of the Mental Health Board will take place on March 28 at 6:30 p.m., at the Town Hall (250 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett).

Hanover Township serves over 105,000 residents in portions of the Cook County communities of Streamwood, Elgin, Bartlett, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg.
