Troubadour Mark Dvorak to visit Wauconda Township

The Wauconda Township Senior Club welcomes Chicago's "official troubadour" Mark Dvorak for an afternoon of song and story at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, at Wauconda Township, 505 W. Bonner Road, Wauconda.

Dvorak, who accompanies himself on guitar, 5-string banjo and 12-string guitar, has performed in 38 states and in parts of Europe and Canada. He has released 17 albums and has won awards for journalism and children's music.

In 2008 he received the Woodstock Folk Festival Lifetime Achievement Award and received the Lantern Bearer Award from Folk Alliance International in 2013.

"We're happy to welcome Mark back to our series," program coordinator Arlene Meyer said. "He is an amazing musician and a favorite with our audience."

Dvorak is busy at work on his 20th CD release, "Live & Alone," recorded in an empty concert hall during the height of the pandemic lockdown. He is also planning to publish his fourth book of essays, "31 Winters,: which reflects on his long journey through music and teaching.
