NAMI Schaumburg Area Family to Family Free Classes

FAMILY TO FAMILY CLASSES COMING IN FEBRUARY!

A free eight week education course, offering support for family members, partners and caregivers of people with mental illness. It is a 8 week course, taught by trained family members, and includes current research on major brain disorders: schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, OCD, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder.

Information on effective treatments to promote recovery, coping skills, problem-solving, and self care, are the focus of this Family-to-Family Education Program developed by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

Series starts Monday February 28, 2023 in the evening in the Elk Grove/Schaumburg area. Pre-registration is required; call Call Barb at 847-431-8745 or brroyce@sbcglobal.net

Class 1: Introduction to NAMI Family-to-Family: introductions, impact on families, discrimination, stigma and bias toward mental illness

Class 2: Understanding Mental Health Conditions and Preparing for Crisis

Class 3: Getting a Mental Health Diagnosis and Sharing Our Stories

Class 4: Overview of Mental Health Conditions

Class 5: Treatment Options

Class 6: Communication Skills and Problem Solving

Class 7: Empathy and Recovery and guest speaker

Class 8: Moving Forward with celebration and graduation
