Welcome the holidays at Bensenville's Fischer Farm Dec. 4

The Bensenville Park District invites area residents to welcome the holiday season at Farmside Christmas from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Fischer Farm, 16W680 Grand Ave. in Bensenville.

Visitors will get into the holiday spirit with ice sculptures, carolers singing festive music, and by creating holiday crafts before warming up around a bonfire with hot chocolate and treats.

Decorated snowmen from the district's Adopt-a-Snowman program will also be on display.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to greet you, and patrons can get their pictures taken! Additional activities and attractions include carriage rides and live animals, including reindeer. The official Bensenville Park District tree lighting is scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m. on the front lawn.

Admission is only $5 at the gate for children aged 3-15. Adults 16 and older and children 2 and under are free. Parking at the event is free on site and across the street. Accessible parking is available.

Fischer Farm is owned and operated by the Bensenville Park District.

It is among the oldest remaining homesteads in DuPage County, with several restored historic structures, including a log house built in 1836 and a farmhouse circa 1919. The land just north of the cabin has been left untouched and is valued for its original seedbeds. The property borders Fischer Woods, a rare forest preserve with the remnants of prairie, wetland and woodland ecosystems.
