Enjoy Christmas parade, tree lighting, holiday popup, and more in Addison

Ring in the holidays with Addison's Christmas events in December, including the tree-lighting ceremony on Dec. 2 and Christmas parades on Dec. 3 and 10.

The events will be held at the Addison Village Green, 1 Friendship Plaza, east of village hall, and the Addison Historical Museum campus, immediately south of village hall.

On Friday, Dec. 2, before the tree lighting, enjoy train rides in the Village Green and a holiday craft fair from 5 to 9 p.m.

The Kiwanis Club will be offering hot chocolate and the Knights of Columbus will be serving popcorn.

Stop by the Addison Historical Museum from 5 to 9 p.m.

Bring the kids for Visits With Santa from 5 to 7 p.m. and 8 to 9 p.m. in the gazebo.

Enjoy the "Vagabond Singers" Victorian carolers from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 to 8:45 p.m., and see the Century House decorated for the holidays in a traditional German style of the late 19th century.

At 7 p.m., school groups will perform festive songs of the season at the east portico of village hall. The tree lighting ceremony begins at 8 p.m. in the Village Green.

MK Holiday Pop-Up

New this year, the MK Holiday Pop-Up Event features live entertainment, a holiday mart, and an "Igloo Dining Experience."

Celebrate the holidays in the Jingle Bar, a festive spot to enjoy live music, dance away and sip on holiday spirits from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays, and 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Or experience the season in a new way - in your very own snow globe under the holiday lights. The Igloo bookings are open from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Thursdays to Saturdays, and 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Enjoy Sundays with Santa and his friends, and have fun with holiday activities and crafts. An Igloo rental includes a private hello from Santa and his friends. Or join Santa and his friends at the Jingle Bar (children under 2 are free). Holiday treats and beverages (nonalcoholic and alcoholic) are available for purchase on-site.

Christmas parade

On Saturdays, Dec. 3 and 10, a Christmas parade will be traveling through village neighborhoods. The parade starts at 4:30 p.m. from Army Trail Road and May Street.

Chmas</a><![CDATA[ at Century House

Built in 1893 to house staff of St. Paul's Lutheran School, the Century House has been restored to depict life in late 19th-century Addison.

See the Century House decorated for the holidays in a traditional German style of the late 19th century.

It is open from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, through Jan. 6. Group tours available by appointment at (630) 628-1433.

The Addison Historical Society researched and restored the home at 129 W. Army Trail Road through the generous donations of the Addison community.
