Enjoy music of the season at Arlington Heights church

First Presbyterian, the historic church in downtown Arlington Heights, is once again welcoming community members to rejoice in the music of the season through two marquee events - the Messiah Sing-Along at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, and The Glory of Christmas at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.

The Messiah Sing-Along, back for the first time since 2019, will feature the Northwest Symphony Orchestra and soloists for Handel's "Messiah," who will be joined by the audience who will contribute the chorus.

Audience participation will also be encouraged as The Glory of Christmas features familiar carols of the season. The concert will feature Ola Gjielo's "Dreamweaver," as well as other Christmas favorites from John Rutter, Dan Forrest and Elaine Haganberg.

Both concerts will be accompanied by First Presbyterian's famed Schantz Pipe Organ, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in November.

First Presbyterian Church has been an important part of the city of Arlington Heights' history with its founding in 1855, when the pioneer town was known as Dunton. The church has welcomed community members into its traditional sanctuary for more than 50 years of concerts.

Both events are free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, but seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early arrival is encouraged.
