Projecto 7 headlines Live at White Pines Aug. 26

Elgin-based salsa-Latin jazz band Projecto 7 will perform at Live at White Pines Friday, Aug. 26, at the White Pines Golf Club's tented pavilion, 500 W. Jefferson, Bensenville.

"We are excited to have Projecto 7 back for our 2022 Live at White Pines concert," says White Pines PGA Manager Andrew Godfrey. "The band has a rich history, and its members have been a part of the area salsa and Latin jazz scene for the more than 20 years, including playing our popular Cuban-themed night last year."

Because of the band's versatility, Projecto 7 brings the best of salsa music from the 1970s, 80's, and from the era of Fania, Willie Colon, Hector LaVoe, Tito Puente and many more iconic artists.

The band has six members. Musical Director Tony Morales is the band's first trombonist and has musically contributed to many Chicago Latino bands since the 1980s. Bassist Juan Rivera has shared the stage with recording artists Aris Martinez, Charlie Cruz and Kent Henry. Luis Otero, who was a member of the popular 90's band "La Orquesta Chevere," plays piano. On timbales, Juan "Junito" Figueroa is well known for his musical contribution to "La Orquesta Borinquen." Johnny Placeres is an original member of the band and plays the congas. Professor Arturo Vazquez Jr., the band's director and trombonist, has produced many salsa and Latin jazz musical groups in Chicagoland, including the original "Latin Exposure" and "La Orquestra Borinquen."

Tickets are $5 at the door and include access to the venue and entertainment. A themed dinner and beverages are available for purchase. Doors open for beverage service at 6:30 p.m. with dinner beginning at 7 p.m. The entertainment follows. Free parking is available at the venue.

The White Pines Golf Club's two 18-hole championship courses, situated on more than 260 acres, has been a favorite among Chicago area golfers since 1928. The public course owned and operated by the Bensenville Park District is an excellent choice for players of all skill levels. Whether it's an evening at the lighted driving range, a casual round with friends or an outing or special event, White Pines Golf Club offers the perfect setting to get "away from it all." Course patrons are invited to take advantage of Monday-Thursday tee time specials and to enjoy food and drink at the 37 Bar & Grill. The club has full-service banquet and event capabilities, providing picturesque views of natural surroundings with floor-to-ceiling windows and a wrap-around balcony. The banquet room can accommodate up to 240 guests for golf outings, meetings and wedding receptions, and the tented pavilion offers a larger space with the ability to accommodate a guest list of up to 300 people.
