Arlington Heights Rotary installs bike rack in park

The newly installed Rotary themed bike rack at Lake Arlington is so attractive, some people may think it is just a decoration, but it is truly a functional bike rack. Feel free to lock up your bike while you enjoy the park.

The bike rack is a way for the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights to thank residents for their support over the years. Thanks to the club's great friends and fellow Rotarians at the park district for providing the space for and installation of the rack.

Established in 1956, the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights holds two annual fundraisers, the Arlington Classic golf outing in September and the Rotary Santa Run held on the first Saturday in December.

Funds raised from those two events are used to support both local and international causes. Those local causes range from regular food pantry shopping for the Wheeling Township Food Pantry, Thanksgiving meal baskets for local families in November, holiday gift shopping for local families in December, as well as a group of community grants issued each fall to local nonprofits.

The Rotary Club of Arlington Heights meets at noon the first, second and third Thursdays of most months at Palm Court, 1912 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
