American Legion Department of Illinois names Danny Bogojevich as Legionnaire of the Year

For the first time in Post 42's 103-year history, a Evanston American Legion Post 42 member was awarded the Department of Illinois Legionnaire of the Year Award at the state convention in Springfield last month.

Danny Bogojevich, a previous long-time resident of Oak Park and now a resident of Oak Brook, relentlessly advocates for American Legion Post 42 as a co-creator and president of the Post 42 Charitable Foundation board. He also spearheaded the Post 42 golf outing 2021, resulting in net income of $32,000.

He instituted the silent auction at the 100th anniversary of Post 42 celebration, resulting in net income of $10,000. He has directed and participated in the renovation of Post 42's main hall and foyer. He also secured donations of kitchen equipment to enable Post 42 to operate their catering and events programs.

Bogojevich promotes the "Four Pillars" of the American Legion by his work with the Boys Scouts of America, Honor Flight Chicago, Habitat for Humanity, Illinois Flood Relief Program, and tornado relief projects. He is a proud veteran and a true Legionnaire.

The American Legion, the nation's largest veterans organization, is dedicated to the motto of "Veterans Strengthening America."
