Discover local educator resources Aug. 30 with College of DuPage, The Morton Arboretum

Educators for kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to explore resources, workshops and more through a partnership between College of DuPage and The Morton Arboretum.

An Educator Open House will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Arboretum's Thornhill Education Center in Lisle.

The event is free for K-12 educators, but pre-registration is required.

Capacity is limited to 150 participants.

Learn more about the Educator Open House and register at cod.edu/educator or via EventBrite.com. Pre-registration will close at noon on Monday, Aug. 29 or when capacity limits have been reached, whichever comes first. The first 100 attendees also will receive a swag bag.

"The college is excited to partner with The Morton Arboretum to offer a one-stop-shop for local teachers where they can learn about experiences, workshops and resources available to them and their classroom from organizations across DuPage County," said Sara Spaniol, COD's STEM Outreach Coordinator.

Participating organizations include: DuPage Children's Museum, The Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum at Benedictine University, Naperville Astronomical Association, TechGirlz, DuPage County Farm Bureau's Ag in the Classroom, DuPage Regional Office of Education STEM Squad, Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Glen Ellyn Public Library, Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art, Pathway to Adventure Council-Boy Scouts of America, Red Oak Nature Center, and The Conservation Foundation.

College of DuPage is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Serving approximately 21,000 students each term, College of DuPage is the largest public community college in the state of Illinois. The college grants seven associate degrees and offers more than 170 career and technical certificates in over 50 areas of study.
