Libertyville Rotary gives $85,000 in grants

Over the course of three weeks in June, the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club hosted a total of 38 charitable organizations at its morning meetings.

The purpose of these meetings was to celebrate and recognize the hard work each of these organizations performs in their local communities. The club's fundraising efforts during the year have provided it with the opportunity to contribute $85,000 worth of grants to local organizations that truly exemplify Rotary's motto, "Service Above Self."

These organizations provide many services, including support for veterans, mental health counseling, youth empowerment, special needs support and more.

"It is our honor and pleasure to support these 38 organizations who truly are the heroes in our community, providing face-to-face and hands-on support and assistance to those in need," said presiding club president Richard Schoeneman.

"The Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club will continue to do everything in our power to raise funds to support their ongoing efforts."

Organizations awarded charitable grants during the celebrations include:

Ageless Aviation Dream Flights; Beacon Place; Best Buddies Libertyville; Career Resource Center, Inc.; Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project; Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association; Hope Weiss Scholarship Foundation; Lake County Haven; Libertyville High School STARS Aquatics; Libertyville High School Interact; Libertyville High School TOPCATS Mentoring; Libertyville Civic and Senior Center; PADS Lake County, Inc.; American Legion Post 329; Boys & Girls Club of Lake County; The Center for Enriched Living; Free Spirits softball; Lake County Center for Independent Living; Love INC of Lake County; Lynch Foundation; Reading Power, Inc.; Sue's Pantry; Waukegan to College; Willow House; Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center; Adler Arts Center; Art Impact Project; Blue Star Recyclers; GiGi's Playhouse, Deerfield; Lake County Children's Advocacy Center; Mothers Trust Foundation; Nicasa Behavioral Health Services; Samaritan Counseling Center of the Northwest Suburbs; Special Education District of Lake County; The Super Jake Foundation; Youth Conservation Corps.; and Youth & Family Counseling.

Since its inception in 1987, the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club has donated millions of dollars to both local and international charities, including programs to promote literacy, programs to combat hunger, support the eradication of polio, as well as numerous local charities, food pantries, and scholarship programs.

The club is always encouraging more individuals to become involved. Anyone wishing to find out more about the club is encouraged to attend one its weekly meetings Wednesday mornings at Lambs Farm.
