Chelsea Austin, Author of Inexplicably Me, Appearing at Barnes & Noble Deerfield July 15

Author, life coach and inspirational speaker Chelsea Austin will be meeting shoppers and signing books at Barnes & Noble Deerfield (3728 North Waukegan Rd) on Friday, July 15th from 5- 7pm.

At just age 28, Chelsea has just published her first memoir, Inexplicably Me: A Story of Labels, Worthiness, and Refusing to be Boxed In. Through her touching, hilarious and inspirational reflection on her upbringing and life story being raised by two gay men, Chelsea helps others struggling with identity issues, mental health challenges, bullying and rejection, find self-acceptance and joy.

Though her circumstances are unique, her life lessons are universal. Inexplicably Me touches on topics that everyone can relate to, including:

-Redefining Labels and Identity - Chelsea reflects on the boxes she was put in based on the family she was born into. How can we create our own identity and redefine our existing labels?

-Getting Through Emotional Challenges In Life - From Chelsea's Daddy going to prison for two years, to her auntie and biological mother dying from cancer, Chelsea reflects on finding resilience in awful times. How can we create environments for ourselves to reflect, feel and overcome?

-Overcoming Negativity, Uncertainty and Rejection - Whether she was dealing with mean girls growing up, or not getting into the colleges she wanted to, Chelsea had to learn to turn away from negativity and embrace uncertainty. How can we do the same?

-Finding Worthiness in Every Relationship - Chelsea dives into her relationships, thinking about her experiences navigating family, friendship and romance. How can we share our best selves with our loved ones? And how can we find peace with our inner self?
