'Calypso Summer' brings steelpan music to Fox Valley Orchestra July 10

The Fox Valley Orchestra will present "Calypso Summer," led by principal guest conductor Stephen Squires, on Sunday, July 10, at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre.

The concert will feature Liam Teague, professor of music and head of Steelpan studies at Northern Illinois University, where he also directs the renowned NIU Steelband. His commitment to demonstrating the great musical possibilities of the steelpan has taken him throughout the world, and he has received many awards and competition prizes from his homeland of Trinidad and Tobago.

Hailed as the "Paganini of the Steelpan," Teague has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles, shares his talent with the Fox Valley Orchestra in a concert sure to uplift and inspire.

The concert will start at 3 p.m. at the arts center, 1250 W. Wilson St.

Tickets are available online at www.bataviafineartscentre.org or can be purchased at the door depending on availability.

Ticket prices range from $16 for children under 8 years old, $20 for students and seniors and $24 for adult seating.
