Friends of the Fox River's Monitor with Your Mother returns on Mother's Day

The Friends of the Fox River is bringing back a Mother's Day tradition - "Monitor with Your Mother."

This "mom-entous event" will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at Jelke Creek Bird Sanctuary in Sleepy Hollow.

The Friends of the Fox River is the leading organization that engages students in monitoring the water quality of their local streams, which is an exciting and memorable experience.

Now it's mom's turn to join the fun. Learn what lives below the surface, and what that information tells us about the health of the habitat.

Please dress appropriately for the weather because this event takes place outside.

The Friends of the Fox River will provide all the equipment including boots, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own waterproof boots.

In case of inclement weather, the event will move inside to the Schweitzer Environmental Center at 16N900 Sleepy Hollow Road in West Dundee.

Connect with Mother Nature and create great "mom-ents" this Mother's Day.

Special Mother's Day gifts for the mothers are included.
