Park Pride Day Is Back to Unite the Community

Streamwood Park District's 12th annual Park Pride Day is upon us, and the staff is as excited as ever.

Park Pride Day is a fun event where volunteer community members and their families come together to prepare Streamwood's 44 parks for the upcoming summer season with general maintenance and planting. Volunteers are invited to work at their favorite local park by planting flowers, pulling weeds, mulching, painting, and picking up trash. Flowers, tools, gloves, mulch, and instructions will be provided.

Park Manager Amy Vito, who oversees Park Pride Day, said, "We are very grateful and excited to bring Park Pride Day to the community each year. We've been lucky to serve a community that takes pride in their parks year in and year out. Park Pride Day is a perfect way to unite the Park District and the community, as we share the common goal of keeping our parks clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone."

In 2021, 197 volunteers volunteered at 39 parks and planted over 1,600 flowers in 54 sign beds. Volunteers also spread 13,000 pounds of mulch in planting beds and tree rings. The Park District Parks Department is excited to surpass these numbers in 2022.

The 12th Annual Park Pride Day takes place on Saturday, May 21 from 10am - 12pm. Immediately following all the hard work, volunteers are invited to Hoosier Grove Park for a much-deserved lunch, which will also feature giveaways and a raffle.

Individuals, groups, or businesses wishing to get involved should visit Park Pride Day at streamwoodparks.org/park-pride-day/. A volunteer form and event sponsorship opportunities are available online.
