Two College of DuPage students named 2022 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholars

College of DuPage students Jhenevie Oca of Woodridge and Andrea Jovanovic of Glendale Heights have been named 2022 Coca-Cola Academic Team Scholars.

Oca, a Gold Scholar, will receive a $1,500 scholarship while Jovanovic, a Silver Scholar, will receive a $1,250 scholarship.

Both will also receive a commemorative medallion.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Academic Team by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver and 50 Bronze Scholars nationally with nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually.

Oca came to COD as a Presidential Scholar, which covered two years of tuition and provided enrollment in the Honors Program and Phi Theta Kappa. She graduated from COD's Nursing program in December and will use the scholarship as she pursues her bachelor's degree at Purdue University.

"COD was a smart option financially and academically," she said. "The best thing about COD is how much it cares about the students. I was able to build so many lasting relationships and it prepared me for the future."

Jovanovic, who was also a Presidential Scholar, will graduate this spring with her Associate in Arts degree. While she has not selected a transfer institution yet, she plans to study computer information systems. She encourages students to get involved with clubs and organizations like Phi Theta Kappa.

"I would recommend COD to anyone, especially if you are not sure what to do with your career," she said. "COD helped me grow my leadership skills and provided amazing opportunities, from networking to scholarships."

College of DuPage is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is the second largest provider of undergraduate education in Illinois, serving approximately 21,000 credit and 31,000 noncredit students each term. The college grants seven associate degrees and offers more than 170 certificates in almost 50 career and technical fields.
