Bensenville Park District to go 'mask optional' beginning Feb. 28
The Bensenville Park District announced that beginning Monday, Feb. 28, all indoor facilities will be mask optional for those age 6 or older, in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
Those aged 2-to-5 years old will still be required to wear masks indoors.
"We are pleased to be able to loosen our mask requirements, as the COVID data continues to trend in the right direction," says Executive Director Joseph C. Vallez. "We are strongly recommending our patrons continue to wear masks to help protect everyone, just as our staff will continue to mask up as we continue to monitor local and state health data and follow CDC, state and county recommendations."
The move comes in conjunction with the end of the state's mask mandate and includes participation in the district's fitness classes, Wood Street Fitness workout facilities, athletics programs, Young at Heart senior activities and all other programs, except for Tiny Tots programs.
The district will continue to encourage everyone wear masks and will continue to require all employees wear masks inside its facilities. Social distancing procedures will also remain in place, along with the recommendation to frequently wash hands.
"We follow the three Ws - wearing a mask, watching your distance and washing your hands frequently," continues Vallez. "And we encourage everyone who takes part in our activities to do so as well."
