Bensenville's Wood Street Fitness returns to normal operations

The Bensenville Park District announced its Wood Street Fitness Center, 1000 W. Wood St. in Bensenville, has returned to normal operations, with the caveat that masks and social distancing practices are required in the facility per state law.

Beginning Friday, Feb. 4, Wood Street Fitness will operate with expanded hours, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.

The center is operating at full capacity, and reservations are no longer required for specific workout times and fitness classes. Participants still need to check in to the front desk to work out or participate in the classes to confirm membership. Additionally, the park district's open gym program has resumed for participants in grades 5-8 and is operating at full capacity. Open gym hours are 3 to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays. Masks are required. Participants supply their own basketballs.

The park district's registration hours returned to normal at the end of January. In-person registration can be completed at the Deer Grove Leisure Center Monday through Saturday. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Drop-off registrations can be done at any time the facility is open.

The Deer Grove Leisure Center reopened for limited activities Saturday, Jan. 15, after a brief COVID-related shutdown. The facility had been closed to all programs and activities with the exception of registration since December 30.
