Hanover Township to once again distribute Thanksgiving meal boxes

Hanover Township will distribute Thanksgiving meal boxes to qualifying families from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Nov. 17 at the Hanover Township Astor Avenue Community Center, 7431 Astor Ave., Hanover Park. Registration is required.

Meal boxes will also be distributed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, and Friday, Nov. 19, and Monday, Nov. 22, to Wednesday, Nov. 24, while supplies last. Residents must provide a valid ID and food pantry card or utility bill to register. Only one meal box will be distributed per household.

Last year, 720 Thanksgiving meal boxes were distributed to township families.

Each meal box contains a 12-14 pound frozen turkey, canned fruits and vegetables, gravy mix, potatoes, stuffing mix, coffee and dessert.

Thanksgiving meal box sponsors include St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Streamwood, Knights of Columbus Mary's Millennium Council #12801, the Streamwood Woman's Club and the Kiwanis Club of Streamwood.
