Arlington Heights Community Concert Band's Guest Conductor to Premier Original Composition

Guest Conductor to Premier Original Composition

Submitted by Suzanne Petrie, Arlington Heights Community Concert Band

Arlington Heights Community Concert Band welcomes Dr. R. Christopher Teichler, guest conductor, at this Sunday's Oct. 24 concert, 3 p.m., Forest View Educational Center.

Dr. Teichler will conduct the band in the world premier of his composition "Hope and a New Dawn". Originally, he wanted to write a composition that would celebrate the new decade, communicate optimism and opportunities about the future. Then COVID-19 happened. He had to fight past an initial resignation to scrap the idea. He then decided he wanted to contribute to a spirit of perseverance, encouraging the idea that things will get better, and we will get past this as we work together. A new day will come. That idea became the inspiration for "Hope and a New Dawn" which will be premiered at the concert.

Forest View Educational Center Theater, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights. Admission is free, but the band does accept donations to offset the cost of music and new musical instruments. For electronic tickets:
