Fox River Grove seeking developer for two acre downtown block

The Village of Fox River Grove recently purchased the remaining parcels of land needed to redevelop two acres in the downtown, otherwise known as "Block B" (along Northwest Highway between Illinois Street and Lincoln Avenue, as well as the lot west of the Municipal Center).

This effort to assemble the property for redevelopment started over three years ago after decades of little to no capital investment into the block.

This land assembly, something not likely to ever have been accomplished by the private development community, required action from the village for the sake of progress in the downtown.

The village offered relocation services to certain businesses on the block to alternative locations within the village, however this ultimately did not occur.

The village remains focused on the future of the downtown and will solicit interest from developers for the Block B site. A request for qualifications (RFQ) will be issued in early October.

After an evaluation period and interviews with prospective developers, the village will work to select the developer that has the potential to bring forth the highest and best use for Block B.

The village encourages all capable developers to respond to the RFQ. Developers have until Nov. 30 to respond.
