Rep. Bos to Serve on Human Trafficking Task Force

LAKE ZURICH - State Representative Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich) was recently selected by Illinois House Minority Leader Jim Durkin (R-Western Springs) to serve on the Human Trafficking Task Force. The task force will examine the traumatic impact that human trafficking is having in Illinois and offer solutions for how the state can counter this surprisingly prevalent practice.

"We often don't realize it, but exploitation and human trafficking happens every day, even in communities we assume are safe," said Bos. "The fact is, human trafficking is modern day slavery, and its perpetrators come in all shapes and sizes. These people will target anyone they think they can exploit for profit, whether it's the young for sex work or the unsuspecting for forced labor.

"Although we've made progress in the fight against traffickers, my experience in working with victims has taught me that we must never let down our guard. I hope my experience can be an asset to the task force as we work to develop policies to both clamp down on traffickers and provide healing for victims."

Before joining the Illinois House, Bos served in the non-profit sector working to free children from sexual exploitation and abuse by focusing on prevention programs for adolescents and adults, as well as healing programs for children and young adult victims of human trafficking.

The issue of human trafficking being one of personal advocacy for Bos, three of the initial bills he filed when entering the General Assembly dealt with the issue, in addition to co-sponsoring numerous others. More information on that legislation can be found at RepBos.com.
