Former "The Voice" Contestant Sarah Potenza Hits Hey Nonny Stage October 6
Chris Dungan, co-owner of Hey Nonny, the bistro and music venue in Arlington Heights, knows the challenges of presenting new music to a suburban audience. Filling the stage six nights a week with an array of artists from virtually every genre puts pressure on Dungan and his team to get the word out on the rich but sometimes unknown talent Hey Nonny books.
With an upcoming show by vocalist Sarah Potenza on October 6, Dungan simply turns to other sources.
"Millions of people saw her dazzling performance on "The Voice" and the media has raved about her," Dungan said.
Case in point, Rolling Stone magazine tapped her as one of 10 New Artists You Need to Know, calling her "a colossal-voiced singer who merges her old-school influences with a modernistic sound" while American Songwriter refers to Potenza as "a tornado of a soul singer."
Her second album, Road to Rome, allows Potenza to step forward more in terms of both songwriting and performing. The work relies heavily on female contributors who help Potenza declare her independence while showcasing her R&B, soul, and blues talents.
"Chicago is home to many of these genres and we can't wait to welcome Sarah to Hey Nonny to carry on the great tradition this area has for supporting powerful female artists," said Dungan.
